Long weekend wrap-up

Manila was rampaged by Typhoon Santi but that didn't stop me from having a good long weekend. Electricity was cut at 4am and came back around 8pm on Saturday forcing me and Papa to go out and seek refuge in the malls. The winds were howling mad for hours. And then it was gone.

Onto more serious matters, I got to talk with my mother after a week. I didn't want to clash head on with her again on the phone so I opted to keep quiet and just listen. As usual, the pressure's on me but somehow I was able to convince her to try out other options about their conditions in far away California.

As the pressure mounts, it becomes more unbearable. If only it's that easy to
pack my stuff in an Eagle Creek luggage and fly, I would have already done that. But again, it's not that easy.

I am hopeful and praying that things will go according to plan and that time won't be too hard on us. I have suggested things that we can do about the situation but I don't feel that Mom's for it.

Anyway, I enjoyed the long weekend though it could be longer and better (I wish!). I got to watch my first live baseball game on TV (Yankees vs Phillies) for the World Series and I realized it wasn't that bad after all. I watched Game 4 on TV as well but on both times they lost. Could it be that I jinxed them? LOL!

This was DS's gift for my birthday - an abstract painting. I don't really know how to call it but I know this is something good. I'm proud that he knows how to do this. Drawing is my waterloo. I can never draw as much as I can never dance. My DS is just too sweet! I appreciate anything that came from him.

I finally got to do some girly stuff and shopped for some toiletries at my favorite shop. It was fun while it lasted :) Today, I had my nails painted red, my hair cut short and treated and a wonderful foot spa with pedicure to relax my tired legs and feet.

And to cap this entry, I'm leaving you with a brief conversation I had with my Dad:

Me: (Thinking out loud and asking myself) What am I going to wear tomorrow?

Papa: That's the problem if you have too many clothes to wear. If you didn't have that much, you won't be worrying about that.

Me: I'm just soooooo like you, Pa! You have the same problem each and every single day, too, right?

Papa: Hay naku! Binalik mo na naman sa 'kin yung sinabi ko. Bahala ka nga!

And then I burst into laughter.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

This cracked me up

Basti's with my in-laws this weekend for All Saints' and All Souls' Day. I called him earlier to check on him and here was how our conversation went.

Me: Hi Sweetheart! How are you?

Basti: I'm okay. Mommy, kelan ko po makukuha yung gift mo sa 'kin? (When am I going to get my gift from you?)

(Note: The gift was a promise I made to him when he topped his class and got the Best in Religion award for the 1st quarter grading.)

Me: I already have it with me but it's still a secret. Bigay ko sa 'yo pag nagkita tayo next week. (I'll give it to you when we see each other next week.)

Basti: Ok. I also have a gift for you but it's a secret.

Me: Thanks, Sweetheart! So it's already your birthday, san mo iti-treat si Mommy? (Where are you going to treat Mommy?)

Basti: Kahit saan Mommy! (Wherever you want Mommy!)

Me: Really? So who's gonna pay?

Basti: Sino pa? Eh di ikaw! (Who else? Of course, you!)

Me and my big mouth! Why did I need to ask? LOL!

The Drinks

Chili's and our mighty drinks!

A girl friend and I talked, giggled and promised a lot of things to each other over a sumptuous dinner and a round of margaritas - margarita on the rocks (with one shot too many of Jose Cuervo) and Tropical Sunrise.

This should be a fortnightly activity for us :) We need it!

Friday Fill-Ins

And...here we go!

1. It was a dark and stormy night, nothing unusual happened.

2. He was in a rush so I offered to take the books myself.

3. Rushing out, I slipped and fell down the stairs.

4. As usual, I'm my lame myself and then...I think I heard a howl!

5. Shhhh... that must be an owl laughing at me.

6. But it was just the librarian who wants togive me something good to eat!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to the long weekend, tomorrow my plans include organizing some stuff on my computer and Sunday, I want to sleep in if I can!

Hallowood

This year, Events Anonymous decided to hold a Hollywood-themed Halloween party for our department. As always, the people were all game in dressing up especially for the Dead Carpet event. Let the photos speak for themselves.

Happy Halloween everyone! And 'til the next Halloween event next year :)

Career Hour

The company decided to do a Career Hour. Unfortunately, I really couldn't explain what it means except that we were asked to come in our best corporate attire. This was what our team came up with.

The last photo is of my colleagues who just wanted to goof around the cam :) They're really fun to be with.
