Foursome

Here's a tag from the Faery. Sorry for the delayed reply, sweetie!

Here’s the rule..

Click copy/paste, type in your answers and tag four people in your lists! Don’t forget to change my answers to the questions with that of yours.

1. Four places I go over and over

** Niagara Falls (this is my ultimate honeymoon place - just need to find that lucky guy to be with me! LOL!)
** Mississauga, Ontario - this is where my best friend and the rest of her family live. They're the warmest people I've ever known - and they're some of the best cooks too!
** Stonehedge - something weird really attracts me to this place.
** Wales - not too crowded like London. It's one of the best places I've been to in my life.

2. Four people who e-mail me regularly

** Anna (my SIL)
** Pam (my best friend)
** Atty. Joy (her daily quotes never fail to inspire me)
** Jonathan (family friend who lives in Dubai)

3. Four of my favorite places to eat?

** Dad's - International buffet that's not as pricey as in the hotels
** Fish & Co. - Affordable and yummy! I just wish they would have the apple cider vinegar for the chips sauce!
** Sosing Carinderia - This is the best carinderia ever! No promotional items needed to boost its sales. People flock the place especially during lunch time! One of the best grilled stuff and bulalo/nilaga in the metro.
** Aling Tonya's - Going to Dampa? Then this is my choice!

4. Four places you’d rather be?

** Canada - I'd really love to go back and stay there for good (with Basti, of course)
** Lucban, Quezon - for that much-needed break from the polluted city
** Boracay (with friends) - a part 2 of the adventure would be great
** Palawan - if it's not too pricey, then I would've explored that beautiful place!

5. Four TV shows I could watch over and over.

** FRIENDS
** Dharma and Greg
** Perfect Strangers
** The Drew Carey Show

6. Four lucky winners ( of this tag..)

** Suzanne
** JennyL
** mec
** Dats

The Hype About the iPhone

So what's the hype about the newest gadget in town? Oh yeah, the iPhone is said to be the coolest thing that ever happened to a mobile phone.

It was launched at the Tower Club last Friday and of course it was all over the papers the next day. I was more ecstatic over the fact that work was done by 3pm that day and I went home burning with fever rather than trying to sneak my way in for a chance to win the iPhone for free (or so they say).

I actually would like to own an iPhone. But the problem lies in the fact that Globe exclusively holds the rights to this gadget and I'm not a Globe subscriber. I still don't understand this concept set by Apple to just have only one provider giving service to this useful gadget. This caused the phone to be priced here at almost 3-5 times more than it's actual cost in the US. I stand firm in my decision not to buy the iPhone for that horrible price! I know they have recently lowered the prices but still, I wouldn't buy it for that price. I'd rather just buy unlocked cell phones that have great features too for a price that's not too pricey.

If the time comes when other phone companies can already sell this gadget, then I may reconsider purchasing it. But until that time comes, I'm gonna stay put with my trusty and rusty phone for my mobile needs.

The Sickly Me

I haven't gone to work this week. I went down with the flu and had another bout with laryngitis that rendered me voiceless for a couple of days. Right now, I'm under strict instructions not to talk and for me to just rest and recuperate.

Even as a child, I was sickly. There were some birthdays of mine that I recall being in the hospital or I was just sick in bed celebrating it there with cake and spaghetti. It's a true bummer to be sick on your birthday but in my case, it was sort of a regular thing to me.

Now I'm wondering whether I can still be in a good state of health. July and August have been really terrible months for me financially and health-wise. I have like a full pouch of different medications for different illnesses and I'll never know when this will end. But looking at the brighter side of things, I actually enjoy these rare moments that I just snuggle under my comforter (which look like a really cool crib bedding for a big baby like me) and half a dozen pillows. Sleep has never been this good - even though it's induced by the antibiotics and pain relievers I'm taking.

I can babble on and on about my angst on my health - but what the heck! Life is still beautiful.

Cable and TV stuff

I am not that knowledgeable about cables and stuff but I know the basics about them - like how I'm going to connect my phone to my computer or the DVD player to the TV or my camera to the TV. But I get lost with all the jargon, that is, the different types and names of cables used for a specific type of gadget or machine.

We all know that the latest craze in TV is the HDTV or what they call the high definition TV. I heard that this kind of TV works best when used with HDMI cables for crisper and clearer audio and video. Well, that would be really cool if you'll ask me.

Now, all I need would be a new HDTV. LOL!

What's Happening?

I admit that I have been one lazy girl this week with my blog. I didn't have the mojo to write nor to scrap though there was so much to write about and scrap. Anyway, for the rest of the day, I will try to write about bits and pieces of what has happened this week. I'm having the day off tomorrow (another systems outage at work) so I have about 2 days to catch up on everything.

Let's start off with the movies I've recently seen and the books that I have bought and/or currently reading.

Who would think robots could fall in love?? WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth Class) and EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) did. But more importantly, this movie actually gave us a glimpse of what would earth be like in a couple of years if we don't take care of it. We'll all be dumped in garbage and most probably, we will also be in Axiom exiled in some other galaxy or universe because Earth is not livable anymore. However, there's still hope and it's not yet too late to save Mother Earth - just like that tiny plant that grew out of the soil-laden shoe that EVE found. I highly-recommend this movie. My siblings and my son loved it. I'm sure you will too.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was a fairly good movie but I didn't love it the way I loved the first 2 parts of the trilogy. I read somewhere that Rachel Weisz rejected the script because she didn't like it. I think this movie would have been better if she was still Brendan's partner. The effects were all good but I guess there's really no on-screen chemistry between Brendan and Maria Bello that's why it didn't appeal to me as much as the first 2 Mummy movies. Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li both looked great in this movie though.

The Dark Knight was kinda intense and I loved it! Heath Ledger kinda scared me in this movie. It seemed to me that he internalized the role too much and he convinced me that the Joker was really a lunatic on the loose. I loved the fight scenes, the effects and the storyline. Money well-spent on this one.

I haven't read the Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn) by Stephanie Meyer but my sister already finished the 1st 2 books (Twilight and New Moon) in 2 sittings. I know it's a current hype. I can't wait to get me started and see what the hype's all about.

I read about The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian in January from Joy's blog and it was only now that I was able to buy it (oh well, I'm that cash-strapped really! LOL!). I have read the first part and there were a lot of points in there that touched me. This book is talking to me in more ways than one. You all know that my marriage has started to fall apart and I'm now in the final stages of making decisions about it. I don't know where reading this book will lead me but definitely I know that there will be so many things I'm going to learn and ponder about from it.

And finally, I now have a copy of Batjay's latest book, Mga Kwento ng Batang Kaning Lamig. I was able to buy the book at Powerbooks Glorietta (other Powerbooks branches didn't carry the book though) after talking with someone from the publisher's office since I couldn't find a copy of the book. I read this in one sitting and it's the happiest I've been for the longest time. Batjay's way has always been insightful and fun. Here's looking forward to your next book.

While writing this, I'm still thinking whether to go out and watch Sarah and John Lloyd's movie or Vic Sotto and Dolphy's movie. Well, I can watch one today and the other tomorrow. We'll see.
